Many people often arent sure what to wear for their family sessions, but luckily I'm here to help! Throw away the old notions of everyone wearing exact matching outfits (like jeans and white shirts!) and adopt these new fresh outfit ideas!
The easiest way to coordinate for a family session is by color 'families'. These families are Warm, Cool, and Neutral. The Warm family contains colors like red, orange, yellow and any variation of them. The Cool family contains blue, purple, green, and any variation of them as well! Your third family is Neutrals, which includes black, white, grays, tans, browns, and jean materials. The Neutral family can be worn alone or combined with the Cool or Warm colors for a perfect outfit!
Check out this handy chart below to get ideas of the color families.
You might wonder why pink is missing, while pink is more of a warm color it can be worn with either color family just fine!
Don't be afraid to play with patterns either, solids and patterns can be mixed together and can even help tie everyone together. The only pattern I would stay away from is stripes, they can photograph funny and show up strange on the computer screen!
This is my personal favorite way of coordinating shoots with more than one person, like families and couples. It allows for each person to show their indiviuallity by picking thier favorite color from the color family while still coordinating with everyone!
Hopefully this helps with coordinating your family sessions!
